A 28-year-old NRI from Hyderabad, Mohammed Wajid, who was pursuing higher studies in Chicago, tragically lost his life in a road accident in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on Wednesday.
The accident occurred when Wajid, while driving a car, reportedly ignored a stop sign at an intersection and collided with a truck, resulting in his instantaneous death.
The incident took place early Wednesday morning (IST), which was around 7 or 8 pm on Tuesday in the US.
Wajid was an active leader of the Youth Congress in the Khairatabad division and also served as a member of the NRI minority Congress committee in the USA.
Rohin Reddy, president of the Khairatabad district Congress committee, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “Wajid was a disciplined young man. His passion, energy, and dedication to our organization will be deeply missed.”
Reddy also mentioned that heavy fog and poor visibility were contributing factors to the accident.
Wajid’s family is scheduled to travel to the USA on Thursday, where his last rites will be performed.
