There appears to be more beneath the surface in Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's recent outburst against veteran Congress leader and former MP K V P Ramachandra Rao.
The CM publicly accused his colleague of collaborating with the BRS leadership to stir unrest in Hyderabad by inciting residents of the Musi riverbed.
Sources suggest that Revanth Reddy's frustration with KVP, who once held immense influence due to his close ties with the late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, is not a new development.
It was widely known that KVP maintained cordial relations with BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao during his decade-long rule.
Leading up to the 2023 Assembly elections, Revanth Reddy is said to have expressed his concerns about KVP to the party's top brass.
Following the change in leadership, insiders report that KVP has assumed a mentor-like role for the anti-Revanth Reddy faction.
The CM's main grievance now is that this faction’s activities have escalated beyond internal dissent.
