Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Thursday demanded that the TRS government led by CM KCR bring out a white paper on the amount it had spent to combat Coronavirus.
PCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy alleged that KCR was still in deep slumber as the Coronavirus cases were on the rise with every passing day. He demanded that KCR wake up immediately to prevent further damage.
He said the chief minister had not clarified on the measures taken by the government to bring down the positivity rate of Covid-19, despite the fact that the number of cases crossed 1.5 lakh mark and death toll touching almost 1,000.
“Instead of giving a clear status on what measures were taken to combat Covid-19 and how his government plans to prevent further damage, KCR is giving vague statements," he said.
Though the TRS government had claimed that Rs 4,500 crore had been earmarked to deal with the Covid-19 situation, no details were provided as to how the money was spent.
“Why is he reluctant to include Covid-19 treatment in the Aarogyasri Scheme? Thousands of families have sold their assets and fell into huge debts to bear the cost of treatment in private hospitals. The state government should reimburse the amount poor people had already spent for treatment of Covid-19 in private hospitals so far," he demanded.
Reddy said that the state government release a white paper giving details of funds received under Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) for combating Coronavirus and how they were spent.
"KCR's negligent attitude is proving too costly for the Telangana State. He must realise that people's lives were more precious than his false ego. Therefore, the chief minister must wake up from slumber and take corrective measures to control the situation," he said.
