Telangana Congress party on Monday appealed to Union home minister Amit Shah to order a probe into the alleged travel by TRS MLA from Vemulawada Chennamaneni Rajeshwar Rao on his German passport, though he claimed to be an Indian citizen.
In a letter written to the Union home minister, Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka reminded that the Central government had revoked the citizenship of Ramesh on November 20, 2019, on the grounds that he had played fraud on the Government of India.
Subsequently, the MLA moved the high court and obtained interim suspension orders immediately.
However, according to the affidavit submitted by Assistant Solicitor General in the High Court, Ramesh had gone to Germany from Chennai using his German passport in the third week of December, 2019.
Interestingly, Ramesh had filed an application in the court earlier that his German passport was valid only till April 2, 2013, the CLP leader pointed out.
Bhatti sought to know whether the Central government had initiated any criminal proceedings against Ramesh for playing fraud on the Government of India in obtaining Indian Citizenship.
“The Centre should clarify whether the Centre obtained any information from the German authorities that his German Passport was renewed and whether Ramesh was still holding German Citizenship,” he asked.
Bhatti demanded that the government should take a stringent action against Dr Ramesh Chenamaneni.
