Kilaru Keerthi Teja, grandson of Velamati Chandrashekara Janardhana Rao, 86, the head of the Veljan Group, has confessed to murdering his grandfather following long-standing disputes over asset distribution and personal humiliation.
Teja was arrested and remanded the day after the murder by Panjagutta police. Initially uncooperative, he later provided a detailed confession about the circumstances leading to the crime.
According to police sources, Teja claimed his grandfather repeatedly insulted him, often referring to him as a "beggar" both at home and in the office.
"He never treated me as part of the family," Teja reportedly told investigators.
He also alleged that he was denied a fair share of family assets and was excluded from a director position within the company, deepening his resentment.
"The constant humiliation and feeling of being sidelined led me to decide to kill him," Teja confessed.
He admitted to purchasing a knife through Instamart in preparation for the act.
On the day of the murder, a heated argument broke out when Teja once again demanded his share of the assets.
"When I asked for my share, he refused, and that's when I stabbed him," Teja admitted.
Following the murder, he attempted to destroy evidence, burning his clothes and the knife at an isolated location near Yellammaguda in BS Makta, police confirmed.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue gathering evidence in the case.
