The steady departure of leaders from the BRS continues, with the latest addition being E. Peddi Reddy, a former minister in unified Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy cited a loss of self-respect due to the leadership's actions as the reason for his resignation from the party on Thursday.
In a letter addressed to BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao, Peddi Reddy, who had joined the BRS from the BJP in 2021, stated that he had initially joined the party with the intention of contesting the Munugode constituency bypoll.
Despite not receiving the ticket, he remained committed to the party's cause and actively participated in the 2023 elections in Husnabad and Huzurabad constituencies.
In recent weeks, the BRS has witnessed the departure of several prominent members, including MPs B.B. Patil from Zaheerabad and P. Ramulu from Nagarkurnool, along with former MPs Ajmeera Sitaram Naik from Mahbubabad and Godam Nagesh from Adilabad.
Former MLAs Jalagam Venkat Rao from Kothagudem and S. Saidi Reddy from Huzurnagar, as well as G. Srinivas, who contested from Peddapalli on a BRS ticket in 2009, have also left the party.
Subsequently, the BJP has allocated Lok Sabha tickets to Patil and Saidi Reddy for Zaheerabad and Nalgonda, respectively, while nominating Nagesh for Adilabad and Srinivas for Peddapalli.
