Former Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who defected from Telangana Rashtra Samithi to the Congress just before 2019 Lok Sabha elections, appears to be looking towards Bharatiya Janata Party.
After watching the miserable performance of the Congress party in the recent Dubbak assembly by-elections and the present Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, Vishweshwar Reddy realised the futility of continuing in the grand old party for his political future.
Soon after the initial trends, the former MP tweeted that the trends in the GHMC elections clearly established that the people were disgusted with the TRS government and that the BJP is the only alternative to the TRS, as the Congress failed to put up a strong fight.
This led to speculations that Konda might shift his loyalties to the BJP sooner or later. In fact, during the electioneering for the GHMC elections itself, there was a talk that he might defect to the BJP following the visit of senior BJP leader from Bihar Bhupendra Yadav to his residence.
However, Konda tweeted that he had no such plans of leaving the Congress party at least for now.
“I have no plans to change the party, as of now,” he tweeted, indicating that he might consider it in future.
The former MP said employees and retired people were against the TRS and were in favour of the BJP.
“The fact that he has made a statement praising the BJP clearly shows he is planning to jump the fence sooner or later,” a Congress leader observed.
Meanwhile, firebrand actor, Congress leader and former Medak MP Vijayashanti, too, is all set to jump the fence into the BJP by this week end, sources closer to her said.
