Two senior political leaders in Telangana, who are referred to as 'junior leaders' in the BJP, are reportedly preparing to quit the BJP and join the Congress soon.
Etala Rajender and Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, who brought a new vigor to the BJP in Telangana through their transition from BRS and Congress, and triggered bypolls in Huzurabad and Munugode in 2021 and 2022, are said to be deeply unhappy with the BJP's national leadership for being lenient towards BRS, KCR, and their family members despite their involvement in significant corruption, scams, and irregularities over the past nine years.
Etala and Rajgopal are reportedly informing their supporters that they joined the BJP with the sole aim of challenging KCR and defeating BRS in the upcoming Assembly elections. However, they believe that the national leadership has restrained their efforts by taking a soft stance on KCR.
Their supporters are also urging them to join the Congress, as it is the only opposition party in Telangana that confronts BRS and KCR directly. They believe that only the Congress has the capability to overthrow the KCR government in the Assembly polls scheduled for December this year.
There is speculation within BJP circles that Etala and Rajgopal are already holding 'secret meetings' with dissatisfied BJP leaders who are considering leaving the party and joining the Congress.
Leaders from various political parties in Telangana, who joined the BJP with the sole objective of defeating BRS, have lost hope after KCR's daughter Kavitha was not arrested in the Delhi liquor scam case, despite being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) four times in Delhi.
They perceive this as part of a 'secret understanding' between KCR, Narendra Modi, and Amit Shah.
