Stage is set for the resignation of senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and former health minister Eatala Rajender from the party and his assembly membership and his entry into the Bharatiya Janata Party soon.
Rajender called for a press conference at his Shamirpet residence at 10 am to announce his resignation from the party and his Huzurabad assembly seat.
He would also announce his future political course. Before that, he might be sacked from the TRS.
The latest news from his camp is that Rajender might not contest the by-elections from Huzurabad constituency, whenever they are held within the next six months, but might field his wife Jamuna.
Apparently, he is of the view that the TRS would go all out in the by-elections by mobilising money and muscle power to defeat him. And if that happens by any chance, his political career would come to an end.
Instead, Rajender is said to be planning to convince the BJP leadership that he would take up a key responsibility in the party to strengthen the BJP in the northern Telangana and that would help him and the party in the long-run.
However, Rajender would put in his heart and soul in the Huzurabad by-elections to see that his wife gets elected. But there is also a risk involved in his plan.
If he opts out of the race in the by-polls, it might lead to the talk that he is not sure of his victory and so, he is making his wife a scapegoat.
In any case, there would be some clarity on his plans in a few days.
