Liquor sales in Telangana surged during the Dussehra festival, with the state witnessing record breaking figures.
On October 11 alone, sales amounted to Rs. 200.44 crore, following a strong Rs. 152 crore worth of sales the previous day.
According to excise department officials, liquor sales between October 1 and 10 reached a staggering Rs. 852.40 crore. This surge in alcohol consumption around the festive season has pushed the total Dussehra liquor sales in the state beyond Rs. 1,100 crore.
Festivals like Dussehra typically see increased alcohol demand as families celebrate with elaborate gatherings and parties.
Telangana has consistently reported high liquor sales during major festivals with the state government benefiting from significant excise revenue.
