Does KTR's tweet from UK prove BRS fears Cong?

BRS working president and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao is currently on a visit to the UK to attract investments into Telangana.

He is busy meeting investors in the UK and signing MoUs with UK firms for setting up operations in Hyderabad.

Despite his busy schedule in the UK, KTR reportedly was glued to the TV screen in his hotel room on Saturday to watch the Karnataka Assembly election results.

Even before the final results were out, KTR made a tweet on the Karnataka Assembly polls, stating that these results would not have any impact on Telangana, which is going for Assembly polls in the next five months, by December this year.

KTR tweeted, "Just as the Kerala Story failed to amuse the people of Karnataka, similarly, the Karnataka Assembly results will have NO bearing on Telangana. Thanks to the people of Karnataka for rejecting ugly and divisive politics. Let Hyderabad and Bengaluru compete healthily for investments and creating infrastructure for the greater good of India. My best wishes to the new Congress Govt in Karnataka."

So far, so good. But why did KTR talk about Karnataka results not showing any impact on Telangana even before the Telangana Congress leaders made such a claim?

Political circles are abuzz that KTR's tweet on Karnataka results, that too from the UK, clearly proves that the BRS leadership is in the grip of fear of losing elections to Congress in the upcoming Telangana Assembly polls.

This is because several areas of Karnataka were once part of Telangana in the Hyderabad State ruled by Nizam.

People in the south Telangana districts, especially undivided Medak, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, and Nalgonda districts, have vast relations and connections in Karnataka, and the Karnataka Assembly results will definitely influence voters in South Telangana districts, if not in other parts of Telangana.

Another fear that grips BRS leadership is that Telangana Congress will get adequate financial resources from Karnataka, being a ruling party there, and this would help to counter the money power of BRS in Telangana Assembly polls.

At present, Congress is in a pathetic financial condition in Telangana as it is out of power in the state and also at the Centre for nine years since 2014, and Congress government in the neighbouring state Karnataka will definitely give a financial boost to Telangana Congress.

All these factors might have prompted KTR to dismiss reports of Karnataka results showing an impact on upcoming Telangana Assembly polls.
