After shuttling between the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress party to get an assurance for a ticket to contest the next assembly elections, former minister and senior Congress leader from Kadapa D L Ravindra Reddy finally decided to try his luck in the TDP itself.
DLR would be meeting TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Amaravati on Wednesday evening. In all probability, he would be joining the TDP unconditionally, as he has no other choice.
DL will put forth his request for the TDP ticket to contest the Mydukur assembly constituency in Kadapa. But he is not sure, as Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav is also in the race of the same seat and is putting pressure on the party that the ticket should be given to him.
But if Naidu is convinced of DL’s victory in Mydukuru, he might take a decision in his favour and pacify Sudhakar Yadav.
Earlier, DLR tried to join YSR Congress but the local leaders did not accept the proposal to give party ticket to him.
As a result, YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy announced the name of sitting MLA Raghurami Reddy as the party candidate from Mydukuru constituency for the forthcoming assembly elections.
Jagan told DLR’s followers that it was not possible to give MLA ticket to him.
“If he joins the party, we will respect him and give him the MLC seat. If it is okay for him, we are ready to admit him into the party,” he said.
