Despite friendly talk in Delhi, KCR raps Centre

Strange are the ways of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Whenever he is in Delhi, he goes heads over heels before the Central ministers and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and creates an impression that he is maintaining friendly relations with the Centre.

When the entire opposition in the country supported Bharat Bandh a few days ago, it was only KCR who stayed away from it and stayed put in Delhi. It led to the talk that the TRS chief is supporting Modi-led NDA government.

And the central ministers, too, lavish praises on KCR and his administration whenever they come to Telangana on various works, at a time local BJP leaders are going hammer and tongs against the TRS government in the state.

That is why, the Congress leaders in Telangana accuse KCR of adopting double standards with his “Delhi lo Dosti-Gully lo Kusti” (Friendship in Delhi, fight in local streets) stand against the BJP.

But on Monday, KCR chose to criticise the Narendra Modi government for neglecting the state in various sectors, including tourism and culture.

“Despite repeated requests, there has been no response from the Centre to give due recognition to Telangana’s rich culture, history, tradition and arts,” he regretted.

The Telangana chief minister said the Central government was deliberately sitting over the proposals for sanction of six airstrips in the State for more than six and half years, even though the State government offered to develop them with its own funds.

“The Union government has been reckless towards the glorious remnants of Telangana’s history. There are several artists and distinguished people in our State as well, but there is no recognition for them,” he said.

He alleged that the Centre had been turning a blind eye to the recommendations by the state government for giving Padma awards to the eminent personalities of Telangana.

“I have personally asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, whether they wanted us to send any names at all or not. They promised necessary action in this regard,” he said.

KCR pointed out that the State has wonderful waterfalls, the Pandavula Gutta hillock in Khammam and Jogulamba temple at Alampur among many, but the Centre had done little to develop them.
