Ashok Gehlot is the 71 year old senior Congress leader. In the past 40 years he enjoyed the power of being an MLA, MP, Central Minister and Chief Minister. He worked closely with high commands from Indira Gandhi to Rahul Gandhi.
Sonia Gandhi requested him to hold the responsibility of AICC President. At this fag end of his life he might have agree dto that request. The position is not a small one but almost equal to that of a PM.
But his greed didn't make him agree to that request as he is happy as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. The Congress High Command decided to replace Rajasthan CM's seat with Sachin Pilot who is a young leader.
After Rahul Gandhi reprimanded Ashok Gehlot for not agreeing to their order, the latter conspired to damage the prospects of Sachin Pilot becoming the CM. He made 92 MLAs resign betraying Sachin Pilot.
Entire nation is shocked seeing Gehlot who is stinking with a lot of power greed.
Now BJP is in the process of taking this as an advantage. If the saffron party buys 30 MLAs it can form the government in Rajasthan.
So for Gehlot, his CM's chair is more important than the pride of his party and the young leaders like Sachin Pilot.
Gulam Nabi Azad was another thankless leader who enjoyed various positions for 50 years being a Congress leader and started his new party. Finally he joined hands with BJP to win a few seats in J and K.
Similarly Rajagopal Reddy, a Congress leader from Telangana jumped into BJP as they have shown him some carrots.
To revive Congress party the high command should oust out all the old leaders who crossed 60 years of age and fill in the places with young leaders who are in 20s and 30s.
Only then the party can have some future.
