Crisis in Telangana Cong: Diggy to shoot trouble?

The ongoing turmoil in the Telangana Congress following the open revolt by senior Congress leaders against Pradesh Congress Committee president A Revanth Reddy and the subsequent resignations by his group leaders from the PCC, has put the party high command in high alert.

Apparently realising that the party has plunged into a deep crisis due to these developments, the high command has quickly reacted to stem the rot.

According to reports, the party has asked senior leader and AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh to take control of Telangana affairs to talk to senior party leaders and resolve the crisis.

The high command obtained reports from party in-charge of Telangana affairs Manickam Tagore over the developments and discussed the same with Digvijay Singh.

It asked him to hold talks with the seniors and put an end to the disputes. Singh is expected to come to Hyderabad in a day or two for negotiations, sources said.

The seniors raised a banner of revolt against Revanth Reddy by raising the issue of hegemony of “migrant leaders” in the PCC ignoring the “original Congressmen.”

The AICC leaders requested the seniors not to approach the media but to resolve issues, if any, through discussions with the top leadership.

“They have asked the seniors not to precipitate the issue further,” he said.

Meanwhile, the party seniors have decided to meet once again in Hyderabad on Tuesday and prepare a detailed note to be submitted to the high command.

They are expected to complain to Digvijay Singh about the unilateral decisions being taken by Revanth Reddy and the injustice meted out to loyalists in the reconstitution of the PCC executive committees.

On Sunday, as many as 13 PCC members, said to be loyalists of Revanth Reddy, including sitting MLA Danasasri Anasuya and former MLA Vem Narender Reddy, tendered their resignations from the PCC posts.

The resignations were in protest against the allegation made a day before by some seniors including former PCC president and MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy and PCC working president K Jagga Reddy that those "migrated" from TDP to the Congress got prominence in the PCC committees.
