In a scary development, Telangana on Monday reported six deaths due to Coronavirus. Earlier, the government bulletin said two persons died of the disease, taking the overall number of deaths to eight.
In a late-night press release from the chief minister’s office, the Telangana medical and health department said six persons from the state who had attended religious programme at Nizamuddin in Delhi from March 13 to 15 died of Coronavirus.
Two died at Gandhi hospital in Hyderabad, one each in Apollo hospital and Global hospital, one in Nizamabad and one in Gadwal.
The official release said many people might have acquired the virus from the contact with those deceased.
Collectors of respective districts are identifying the possible contacts and shifting them to quarantine centres in hospitals and tests are being conducted on them.
The government requested all those who had participated in the religious programme to voluntarily report to the officials and undergo tests.
It further appealed to the people to give information about such people to the local authorities.
