As the elections to the Telangana state assembly are fast approaching, all the major political parties have started conducting surveys to know their winning prospects, so that they could rework their strategies, depending on the outcome of the surveys.
Mindshare Analytics, a political consultancy firm headed by Sunil Kanugolu and engaged by the Congress party in Telangana to work out its poll strategies, has conducted a survey very recently on the prospects of the party in the coming elections.
The survey report was handed over to All India Congress Committee general secretary K C Venugopal, who came to Hyderabad on Friday.
The report would be studied in detail by the high command before deciding on further strategies.
According to sources, Kanugolu team’s survey has indicated that the Congress has to go a long way still to win the magic figure of 60 seats in the 119-member assembly, but it is not impossible.
Sources said the Kanugolu team has divided all the 119 seats into three categories to study the winning prospects of the Congress in the coming elections. Category A comprises 41 seats, Category B 42 seats and Category C has 36 seats.
The Mindshare Analytics team said the Congress is sure to win 41 seats under the A category. As regards Category B which has 42 seats, the party can win a few more if it can put in a lot of hard work.
And in the Category C seats, the Congress has absolutely no chance of winning even a single seat, as the party is terribly weak in these constituencies. So, the party has to put in extra efforts to win the Category B seats, so that it can come to power in the next elections.
“Even if the Congress wins 20 seats in the Category B, the party can expect to come to power. But it has to put up a tough fight with the BRS in these seats,” Kanugolu team said.
Sources said the strategist came up with a series of suggestions on winning the Category B seats, including the selection of candidates, money power and strengthening the grassroot network of the party.
In all probability, the Congress might come up with the first list of candidates this month itself, so that they could plunge into action for campaigning, sources added.
