It appears to be more or less certain that former Telangana MP and glamour actress of yesteryears Vijayashanti will call it quits and join the Bharatiya Janata Party, most probably around Diwali festival.
It was evident from her comments on Twitter which have become the talk of the town in the political circles on Monday. She said the Congress party had become completely weak and shattered due to strong arm tactics of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
“This has led to the emergence of another national party – BJP, which is posing a tough challenge to the TRS in Telangana,” Vijayashanti said, indicating that all is not well with the Congress and the BJP is the only alternative to the TRS.
She indicated that the efforts of newly-appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Telangana Manickam Tagore to pacify her and retain her in the part were a bit too late and that she had already made up her mind to defect to her parent party.
“Things in the Congress party could have been a little better had Manickam Tagore (All India Congress Committee in-charge of Telangana) come to the state a little earlier. Now, only time and the people of the state will have to decide the fate of the Congress,” she said.
Vijayashanti was the star campaigner for the Congress in 2019 Lok Sabha elections but after that she had been completely sidelined in the party.
Many times, she said she had not been invited to any of the party meetings. She was not even made part of the election campaign in the recent Dubbak by-elections
