Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary Ram Madhav on Friday accused the Opposition parties, particularly the Congress, of dividing the nation on communal lines by instigating the people to blindly oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Addressing a seminar on CAA in Hyderabad, Ram Madhav said the Congress and the other opposition parties have no strength to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi politically and therefore, they were trying to gain some political mileage by dividing the country on communal lines on the basis of CAA.
He asserted that the CAA had nothing to do with the 130 crore Indian citizens as it envisaged providing Indian nationality to persecuted minorities such as Hindus from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh who came to India as refugees prior to December 2014.
The BJP leader said the opposition parties had absolutely no knowledge of the subject and the factual situation.
“What we have done is only to undo the damage done during the Partition of India,” he said.
He said these parties are knowledge-proof like we used have water-proof watches in our earlier days.
“They do not even make any attempt to know the facts. So, they try to mislead people,” Ram Madhav said.
