BRS, the party which lost power to Congress in the 2023 Assembly Elections in Telangana, is showing its resilience over the past eight months as the only opposition party.
Looking into the political developments, some MLAs who switched loyalties from BRS to Congress after BRS lost the election are now coming back to BRS.
This generally doesn’t happen until the next Assembly Election, where the MLAs do several calculations to decide which side they should be on.
This is a sign of BRS regaining prominence in state politics even while in opposition.
Not only that, but even in Assembly Sessions, leaders like KTR and Harish Rao are representing the leadership of the party in the absence of KCR in the sessions and giving a tough time to the ruling party.
On the other hand, Revanth Reddy is not being able to create the right kind of problems for BRS legally and politically. He is either intentionally going light on them for some reasons or lacking in political acumen to do so.
It should be underlined that BRS didn’t lose power due to leadership failure but because of anti-incumbency in the entire Telangana region other than GHMC. So, the ability to regain prominence is becoming easier for BRS.
Revanth Reddy is also struggling to fulfill the manifesto promises. So far, he has only implemented Free Bus for Women and some loan waivers recently.
Other than that, nothing has been happening with regard to manifesto implementation. Raitu Bandhu is also not given, and the pensions are not yet increased as promised.
Amidst this, Revanth Reddy is appearing as a Chief Minister who is a normal performer and who is soft at dealing with the opposition rather than being a tough guy.
If this scenario continues for the next four years, there are brighter chances for BRS to come back to power, dethroning Congress.
