Firebrand legislator of Bharatiya Janata Party in Telangana T Raja Singh on Thursday came up with a fresh demand – declaring Olympics bronze medallist and ace shuttler P V Sindhu as the brand ambassador of Telangana, instead of tennis superstar Sania Mirza.
“We don’t want Pakistani Bahu as the brand ambassador. Instead, the government should make the pride of Telugu states P V Sindhu as the brand ambassador of Telangana,” Raja Singh said, in a short video message released to the media.
He made a request to this effect to Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
“Sania Mirza is no more a pride of Telugu people as she is the daughter-in-law of Pakistan. The chief minister should drop Sania as the brand ambassador of Telangana,” Raja Singh said.
Singh said that Sindhu, who returned to the city on Wednesday, was the first woman to win two Olympic medals. Sindhu brought recognition to India and Telangana by winning the medal at Tokyo Olympics.
He urged the Chief Minister to lay special focus on development of sports in the State to bring out talent among the sports persons.
“We request the Chief Minister to develop the sports complexes and stadiums of every sport in the State,” he said.
