BJP faces heat as Gadkari praises Kaleshwaram

The comments made by Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari praising the achievements of Telangana government came in as a big shock to the Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party leaders.

Even as the Telangana BJP leaders including state president Bandi Sanjay has been attacking the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government, accusing it of indulging in corruption in every project, Gadkari was all praise for the government stating that Telangana’s prosperity will lead to the progress of the nation.

Gadkari said the Telangana government had successfully completed construction of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) to address the water problems and the results were visible to all.

He said there was a water problem in some states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.

On the border of Maharashtra and Telangana, a very big dam named Kaleshwaram Project was constructed and a lot of progress has been made, he said.

“When I was Water Resources Minister I consulted Maharashtra and from my department all permissions were given retrospectively. I am happy that the Kaleshwaram Dam helped to address Hyderabad’s water problem,” Gadkari said.

This has come as a major embarrassing to Sanjay who has been alleging corruption in the project and had also claimed that the project did not supply water to any additional area.

Sanjay has been saying in his padayatra that KCR could get Godavari water to his farmhouse by spending Rs 1 lakh crore on the Kaleshwaram Project but he failed in allocating just Rs 70 crore for RDS modernisation.”

“In the name of redesigning the Kaleshwaram Project, KCR has looted crores. Even the cost of the Palamur-Ranga Reddy district project was hiked from Rs 1,400 crore to Rs 70,000 crore. But this did not provide any additional benefit to farmers,” Sanjay had said.

The TRS leaders are on cloude nine with Gadkari statements. State minister for roads V Prashant Reddy described Gadkari as the rarest among the BJP leaders and said that the success of the Kaleshwaram Project was visible to the Centre but unfortunately the gully BJP has turned a blind eye to it.

While Gadkari’s comments are being spread by the TRS social media wing, the Telangana BJP leaders say that Gadkari should have made the homework property before praising Telangana government.
