It is an open secret that the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been maintaining friendly relationship with the All India Majils-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) led by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
On many occasions, KCR openly declared that MIM is a friendly party of the TRS.
In the assembly, too, the MIM supports every decision of the TRS government. And both Owaisi regularly comes to Pragati Bhavan to meet the chief minister on personal issues.
In fact, Owaisi attended a meeting of the TRS leaders convened by KCR at Pragati Bhavan to discuss the strategy for GHMC polls three days ago.
So, it is nothing but natural for the people to believe that the TRS and MIM have an understanding in the GHMC polls.
But TRS working president and state minister for IT, municipal administration and urban development K T Rama Rao says his party would not have any alliance with the MIM whatsoever in the GHMC elections.
“As was the case in the past, the TRS shall contest in all the 150 divisions. In the last elections, the TRS won five seats in the MIM strongholds. This time, we are aiming at wining 10 seats,” he said.
But the fact is that the TRS will field dummy candidates in the MIM bastion and the MIM does the same in other constituencies.
There is always such a friendly contest between the two parties, only to split the votes of rival parties!
