An examination of the Telangana Legislative Assembly election results, announced on Sunday, revealed that the electorate elected 43 legislators from the Reddy community. This surpassed the count of 40 in the 2018 elections and 42 in the 2014 edition, marking the highest representation from a single community.
Following closely were the backward classes and scheduled castes, each contributing 19 legislators to the new Assembly. However, the number of BC legislators decreased from 22 in 2018 and 20 in 2014. Among the 19 MLAs from BCs, four hailed from the Goud community, three from the Munnuru Kapu community, two from the Padmashali community, and one each from the Rajika, Gangaputra, Bondhili, Mudhiraj, Lodha, Arya Marati (Kshatriya), Yadav, Kurma, Perika, and Vanjara communities.
The count of SC legislators remained consistent as they were elected from reserved seats. Similarly, MLAs from scheduled tribes also maintained their number at 12.
The Congress' SC/ST Declaration, released by AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, proved successful, with the party securing 14 of the 19 SC legislators and nine of the 12 ST legislators, while BRS accounted for three.
In the SC-reserved category, Congress winners included Gaddam Vinod, Gaddam Vivekanand, Adluri Laxman Kumar, Medipally Satyam, Dr K. Satyanarayana, Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Dr Ch Vamshi Krishna, Mandala Samel, Vemula Veeresham, K.R. Nagaraju, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Matta Ragamayee, Laxmikantha Rao Thota, and C. Damodara Rajanarsimha. BRS' SC winners were K. Manik Rao, Kale Yadaiah, Vijayudu, Kadiam Srihari, and Lasya Nandita.
In the ST-reserved category, Congress winners included Vedma Bhojju, Balu Naik Nenavath, J. Chander Naik, Dr Murali Naik Bhukya, Dansari Anasuya (Seethakka), Payam Venkateswarlu, Koram Kanakaiah, Ramdas Malathu, and Adinarayan Jare. BRS' ST representatives were Kova Laxmi, Tellam Venkat Rao, and Anil Jadhav.
There were also 13 winners from the Velama community, an increase from 10 and 11 recorded in the 2014 and 2018 election results. Four members from the Kamma community were elected, along with one Brahmin and one Vysya community candidate each.
While AIMIM is poised to send seven Muslim minority leaders to the House, none of the four Muslim candidates fielded by the Congress and two by the BRS secured victories in the elections.
