The TDP has been resorting to diversionary politics and media distractions to cover up their wrongdoings.
For some time, they took up the issue of actress Kadambari Jatwani and ran it as a daily serial, pulling the total attention of the people toward it through yellow media.
As that case lost steam, they then brought up the Tirumala laddu issue, which burned for quite a long time. Now, even that has lost its momentum, and the new daily serial sponsored by the TDP is Sharmila's issue with Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Surprisingly, Jagan told his party members to ignore Sharmila and focus on pointing out the mistakes of the ruling party. However, TDP leaders seem unwilling to let the issue fade away.
Today, TDP leaders Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Kollu Ravindra called for press meetings to discuss the Sharmila issue, provoking YCP leaders to respond.
With all these daily episodes in the foreground-
- The TDP-Alliance government is selling liquor bottles on the streets through belt shops and other vendors.
- The TDP-Alliance government has diverted the protests of flood victims who demanded the relief promised by Chandrababu Naidu.
- The TDP-Alliance government is also successfully making the people forget about welfare schemes; even if they demand them, these daily serial episodes overshadow those issues.
That’s the administrative capacity of the TDP with the media. Nobody can match it, and it is very difficult for others to learn and implement this formula.
It requires finesse, extensive media coordination and the ability to constantly engage the people with serials based on news.
