Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, the chairman of Eenadu group is now fighting a tough and open battle against the YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh.
Ramoji Rao is more aggressive in countering the YSR Congress rather than the main opposition TDP.
While he played a low-profile critic role to the Congress when late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was in power, Ramoji Rao now is openly playing the opposition role.
Quite interestingly, Jagan Mohan Reddy too had declared Ramoji Rao as his main opponent in the state in the 2024 general elections.
With Jagan naming him as rival, Ramoji Rao seems to have taken it seriously and is playing a dominant opposition role.
He is giving editorials of the media as news reports on the front page on a daily basis.
Notably, Eenadu has 80 per cent of the news dedicated to criticise Jagan Mohan Reddy and the ruling YSR Congress.
Given this situation, it is better if Ramoji Rao register Eenadu as a political party with the Election Commission rather than being a media house.
By registering Eenadu as a political party, Ramoji Rao would have a chance to fight the electoral battle directly against Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The other option, if he is not interested to register Eenadu as a political party, left is that like Sakshi Group having YSR photo on the front page, Ramoji Rao should have TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s photo on the front page and continue the campaign.
It is high time that Ramoji Rao stop using the media for his political gains. He should chose either of these options and come out openly.
The days of people believing Ramoji Rao’s news are gone as the social media is active and available 24x7.
