Interesting as it might sound, young and dynamic irrigation minister in the cabinet of YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy P Anil Kumar Yadav, who defeated former minister P Narayana in Nellore assembly constituency during the recent elections, had once applied for a job in the college owned by Narayana.
Anil, who had done his BDS, said in a recent interview to a channel, said he was idle after completing his degree in medicine. “My mother used to feel embarrassed to tell the people that her son was sitting idle despite completion of BDS. She was forcing me to take up some job,” he said.
Under pressure from his mother, Anil applied for a lecturer’s job in Narayana Medical College. “But I was denied a job stating that there were no vacancies. I was asked to wait for three months before applying again. I was not interested in the job,” he said.
A few years later, Anil defeated Narayana, the chairman of the group of educational institutions in the elections. “May be, I would have remained there as a lecturer, had I been given the job in the college. But now I have become a minister,” he said.
Anil said he had never imagined that he would come into politics in his life, forget about becoming a minister. “I never wanted to practise as a doctor either. I would have worked in a cool drinks’ shop. But certain incidents led me into politics,” he said.
