Former Rajya Sabha member and also a former minister C Ramachandraiah is all set to join the YSR Congress party, instead of Jana Sena Party headed by power star Pawan Kalyan.
According to sources close to Ramachandraiah, he would formally join the YSRC along with his followers at Bobbili on November 13, during the “Praja Sankalpa Yatra” of party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who will resume his padayatra at Vizianagaram on Monday.
Ramachandraiah hails from Kadapa, also the native of Jagan, and hence, he is learnt to have thought he would get a better recognition and position in the YSRC, than in Jana Sena Party. His followers also reportedly suggested that he would have a brighter future in YSRC.
Apparently, Ramachandraiah also did not get much response to his feelers to Pawan Kalyan, despite the former’s proximity with Pawan’s brother Chiranjeevi. The reason could be Ramachandraiah is not a people’s leader and he had never won any direct election. He was a two-time MP when he was in the TDP and was considered one of the members of TDP think tank.
When he was denied RS nomination for the third time, he joined Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party. Subsequently, he became an MLC.
Last week, Ramachandraiah quit the Congress party in protest against the party’s decision to join hands with Telugu Desam Party headed by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. In fact, he was looking for a safe exit as he realised that he had no political future if he continued in the Congress party.
