Uppercase: Popular Brand With Recycled Plastic

Plastic-heavy products dominate the Indian luggage market, but Uppercase is upending the status quo with a sustainable twist.

Established in 2022 under the Acefour Accessories company by seasoned businessmen Sudip Ghose, Uday Sodhi and Arnob Mondal, the brand caters to young, fashion-forward tourists who value both the environment and aesthetics.

Ghose's extensive background at companies like Samsonite and VIP has given Uppercase a strong foundation in industry knowledge and a laser-like focus on innovation.

Unlike most competitors who use 100% virgin plastic, Uppercase uses a blend of virgin and recycled polycarbonate to make hard-shell luggage.

Check-in bags, cabin suitcases, backpacks, duffels and office satchels are among their products each is made with sustainability and usability in mind.

Through websites like FirstCry their travel gear is also used for kids' products and corporate gifts.

Uppercase is growing quickly, having raised more than $18 million in funding, including a $9 million Series B round led by Accel in August 2024. It is currently valued at $60 million.

The brand's February 2025 New York Fashion Week debut was a significant turning point for Indian manufacturing and green innovation worldwide in addition to the company itself.
