Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma once again struggled with the bat, getting dismissed for just 9 on Day 5 of the fourth Test against Australia in Melbourne on Monday.
It has been a tough series for Rohit, and his latest failure added to his ongoing poor form.
His dismissal off Pat Cummins marked a record he would rather forget: it was the sixth time he had been dismissed by Cummins in Test cricket, the most by any captain dismissing another captain in the longest format of the game.
This latest flop has intensified criticism of Rohit, with calls for his retirement growing stronger.
Rohit had played patiently during India's second innings in Melbourne, but his dismissal came after a brilliant catch by Mitchell Marsh at gully.
A full delivery resulted in a leading edge that flew quickly to Marsh, who displayed great awareness and took a sharp catch to end Rohit's innings.
Most dismissals of a captain by an opposing captain in Tests:
6 - Rohit Sharma by Pat Cummins
5 - Ted Dexter by Richie Benaud
5 - Sunil Gavaskar by Imran Khan
4 - Gulabrai Ramchand by Richie Benaud
4 - Clive Lloyd by Kapil Dev
4 - Peter May by Richie Benaud
Australia set India a 340-run target after being bowled out for 234 in their second innings.
India's star pacer Jasprit Bumrah (5/57) led the bowling charge, supported well by Mohammed Siraj (3/70) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/33). Bumrah made history on Sunday by reaching 200 Test wickets.
Resuming on their overnight score of 228/9, Australia’s last pair of Nathan Lyon (41 off 55) and Scott Boland (15 not out off 74) added six runs before Bumrah trapped Lyon leg before wicket.
Australia had taken a 105-run first-innings lead after bowling out India for 369 in their opening innings.
