Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut clarified on Monday that she neither consumes beef nor any other type of red meat, asserting her pride in her Hindu identity.
In a post on X, Kangana stated, "I don't consume beef or any other kind of red meat. It is shameful that completely baseless rumours are being spread about me. I have been advocating and promoting a yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades now. Such tactics won't work to tarnish my image. My people know me, and they know that I am a proud Hindu. Nothing can ever mislead them. Jai Shri Ram."
Kangana's statement came in response to online rumours claiming that she eats beef.
Some social media users even brought up an old tweet from 2019, in which Kangana had mentioned her yogic lifestyle. However, the post was not in the first person and instead talked about her dietary choices.
Earlier, Maharashtra Leader of Opposition, Vijay Wadettiwar, alleged that Kangana Ranaut had once tweeted about her liking for and consumption of beef, insinuating that her joining the Bharatiya Janata Party and being fielded as a candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections contradicted her past statements.
Having recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, Kangana has been nominated as the party's candidate from the Mandi constituency for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Expressing her gratitude and commitment to the party, Kangana announced her political venture on X, affirming her loyalty to the high command's decision and her eagerness to serve as a dedicated party worker.
On the acting front, Kangana is set to appear in "Emergency," which also marks her directorial debut.
