For the academic year 2023-24 Indian students have overtaken their Chinese students to become the largest international student group in the United States.
According to the latest data 3.31 lakh Indian students are currently enrolled in USA institutions compared to 2.77 lakh Chinese students.
This is the result of a higher youth population percentage in India compared to China.
Moreover, Indian youth are more inclined to move to the USA for better job opportunities, higher earnings and an improved quality of life.
This milestone reflects a growing trend of Indian students pursuing higher education abroad, particularly in IT.
The shift comes amidst changing global dynamics including China’s declining youth population and changing trends of US-China relations.
On the other hand, some US Universities are planning to set up their campuses in India looking at the robust craze for Indian youngsters to earn an American graduation degree.
This trend speaks about the strengthening educational and cultural ties between India and the USA marking a significant development in global academic mobility.
