DMK leader Durai Murugan met TD supremo and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati on Tuesday.
The meeting gained significance as it came a day after TRS president and TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekar Rao called on DMK president M.K.Stalin in his bid to form the Federal Front.
Mr Murugan was also present at the meeting that took place between Mr Stalin and Mr Rao. It is learnt that Mr Stalin sent Mr Murugan as his emissary to Mr Naidu to explain what transpired at his meeting with Mr Rao.
“Murugan came with a message from Stalin that Naidu need not worry over the meeting that the DMK president had with KCR and that it was basically a courtesy call,” TDP sources claimed.
Naidu is lobbying hard to stitch an anti-BJP alliance with regional parties like DMK, Trinamool, SP, BSP and NCP supported by Congress.
Stalin has an alliance with Congress and has already backed Congress chief Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidate.
