Hotel room rates in Bengaluru have doubled to Rs 30,000-Rs40,000 per night amid floods in the city.

This comes after several residents, whose houses have been inundated, started moving into the hotels.

As per reports, many of the hotels at Old Airport Road, Whitefield, Outer Ring Road and Koramangala are fully booked till Friday.

A CEO of a technology firm Meena Girisaballa told the media that she paid Rs 42000 to spend a night in a hotel on Old Airport Road.

Many of the hotels in Old Airport Road, Whitefield, Outer Ring Road and Koramangala are fully booked till Friday. According to the hotel managers, the rooms have been booked for 10-15 days.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted continuous and heavy rainfall in Bengaluru for the next five days.

IMD issued a red alert and asked citizens to take necessary precautions and directed those living on the ground floors to shift to safer places.

Some pockets may get more than 20 mm of rainfall in an hour, a senior official said.
