With the issue of special category status to Andhra Pradesh generating a lot of heat and dust in the state, YSR Congress party is trying to take maximum mileage out of it, denying the credit to the Congress or the TDP.
The YSRC was the first political party to give call for AP bandh on Tuesday; and all other parties joined the call later and extended support to it.
“We have been relentlessly highlighting the importance of special status while Chandrababu Naidu had been continuously deriding the issue telling that special status is not a wonder drug and answer to all problems. Our leader had held dhana in Delhi and went on an indefinite fast besides other protest programmes while the TDP has always been indifferent,” YSRC leader Botsa Satyanarayana said on Monday.
He said even in Lok Sabha, the YSRC MPs had raised the issue with intent while TDP MPs had shown the indifference and joined issue only after the YSRCP had gained the attention of the Speaker.
"We have given an adjournment motion as well, which was rejected and the protest sparked from there on," he said.
Being part of the NDA coalition, there is no need for TDP to raise placards. If they are sincere, there are other forms of protesting and this dharnas are only an eyewash, he opined.
