YSR Congress party MLA from Mylavaram assembly constituency Vasantha Krishna Prasad on Tuesday triggered commotion in the party by offering to step down as the in-charge of the party in the constituency, if the party leadership wants to do so.
Considered to be a non-controversial person, Krishna Prasad is not getting along well with other YSRC leaders in Krishna district, particularly state minister Jogi Ramesh, who is said to be interfering in the party activities in Mylavaram, though he represents Pedana constituency.
Apparently, Jogi Ramesh wants to move to Mylavaram, which he had represented in the past, in the next assembly elections. Since he is a minister, he is dominating the party in Mylavaram and Krishna Prasad is feeling the heat.
Moreover, Krishna district in-charge minister R K Roja, too, is said to be interfering in the Mylavaram constituency activities, creating further troubles for Krishna Prasad.
Apparently, Krishna Prasad is also under pressure from Kamma lobby in the district, which appears to be of the view that because he is a Kamma, he is being subjected to all these troubles.
It was evident from the latest remarks made by Krishna Prasad’s father and former home minister Vasantha Nageshwar Rao, who openly lashed out at the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government for suppressing the Kammas and ignoring their interests.
He found fault with Jagan for not inducting even a single minister from Kammas in the state cabinet.
Though Krishna Prasad sought to disassociate himself with his father’s remarks, it is believed that he is also in sync with his father, as he is feeling neglected in the constituency.
That is why the MLA said he would leave it to Jagan whether to field him in the next elections or give the ticket to somebody else.
“I will continue to work for the party, even if I don’t get a chance to contest the next elections,” he said.
Krishna Prasad admitted that he had certain differences with Jogi Ramesh, but hoped that they would be sorted out over a period of time.
“If Jagan wants to change the candidate in Mylavaram, he can do it and appoint somebody else as the party in-charge. I am ready work for the new person till the next elections,” he said.
The MLA said he would soon meet the party bosses and explain his stand.
“I don’t have any disgruntlement in the party and I will abide by whatever Jagan tells me,” he said.
