The Telugu Desam Party-led National Democratic Alliance government in Andhra Pradesh headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is seriously probing the liquor scam that allegedly took place during the YSR Congress party regime.
The Crime Investigation Department has already filed a case against former AP Beverages Corporation Limited (APBCL) managing director P Vasudeva Reddy and is collecting evidence against how the YSRCP had siphoned off huge money through promoting unbranded liquor and allowing only cash transactions.
Sources said a young leader of the YSRCP, who was the party convenor in the USA in the past, had played a big role in the alleged liquor mafia and siphoning of money from liquor sales.
Now with the Naidu government deciding to dig into the scam, this YSRCP leader is feeling the heat of the probe.
It is learnt this gentleman is trying all sources and political connections to avoid being left out of the investigation.
Sources said his father is presently in the Telangana Congress and has good connections with a prominent infrastructure and real estate group.
“Through his real estate friend, this YSRCP leader approached Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy, requesting the latter’s good offices to prevail upon Naidu to spare him from the investigation into the liquor scam,” sources said.
The matter has somehow conveyed to Naidu, but the latter did not say anything. He neither obliged the request nor did he say that he would not spare anyone in the investigation, sources added.
