YSR Congress party official spokesman and former MLA Jogi Ramesh has landed in police case for seeking investigation into a social media posting which stated that restaurant worker J Srinivasa Rao, who made an attempt on the life of YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy at Visakhapatnam airport on October 25, was a Telugu Desam Party worker.
Following a complaint lodged by TDP leader and APSRTC chairman Varla Ramaiah, the Guntur (Urban) police booked a case against Jogi Ramesh and interrogated him on Tuesday as to how he could establish that the accused in knife attack case was a TDP worker.
Guntur urban additional superintendent of police Y T Naidu questioned Ramesh as to how he had produced fake membership cards showing Srinivas as TDP worker.
Ramesh said he had only spoken about the membership card being in circulation showing Srinivas as a TDP worker and the card having the signature of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.
“I was only referring to a social media post. I did not create any membership card. I only wanted a thorough investigation into it. But the police in connivance with the TDP leaders are trying to harass me,” he alleged.
YSRC leader T J Sudhakar Babu sought to know why the police had not booked cases against the TDP leaders like Kesineni Nani, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Paritala Sunitha who had made baseless allegations against Jagan, despite the complaints lodged by the YSRC leaders.
“Even Naidu made derogatory comments against the opposition leader,” he pointed out.
Babu further alleged that the police had not questioned even once actor Sivaji, who read out the “Garuda Puranam” script to suit the TDP interests.
“When he predicted that there would be an attack on Jagan, the police did not question him as to how he knew all these things in advance,” the YSRC leader charged.
