The buzz is that former Union Minister and BJP leader, Sujana Chowdary, is poised to contest from the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency in the 2024 general election.
If the discussions in political circles are to be believed, he is likely to return to the TDP and contest from the seat.
Sujana Chowdary has a close association with TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu. He stood firmly behind Naidu when the latter was in the opposition between 2004 and 2014.
With Naidu's blessings, Sujana Chowdary became a minister in the Central cabinet. However, after the TDP's defeat in the 2019 general election, Sujana Chowdary quit the TDP and joined the BJP.
It is said that Sujana Chowdary is currently in the BJP but working for Chandrababu Naidu. There are also reports suggesting that Sujana Chowdary is playing a key role in forging an alliance between the TDP and the BJP.
If the alliance materializes, Sujana Chowdary would contest from the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket; otherwise, he would contest on a TDP ticket, according to discussions in political circles.
The candidature of sitting MP Kesineni Srinivas, who has been recently critical of the party leadership, remains uncertain.
The TDP leadership is also encouraging his brother, Kesineni Sivanadh, to play an active role in the constituency against Kesineni Nani.
In fact, Nani stated that he would contest on a TDP ticket if given one, or else he would consider running as an independent or representing another party.
Nani's statement has sparked discussions about Sujana Chowdary's entry into Vijayawada politics.
Only time will tell whether the discussions in political corridors will materialize or remain mere gossip.
