Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has replaced Sridhar Babu with a pro-Samaikyandhra leader Sailajanadh as the Assembly Affairs minister. It is being said that Kiran Kumar Reddy is working towards introducing a resolution on Samaikyandhra in the Assembly.
But is it possible to pass such a resolution at this stage? Though there are rumours that the Chief Minister is working towards this end, there are varied opinions on the subject.
The Cabinet had taken a decision and sent the bifurcation bill to the Assembly through President. In fact, it was Kiran Kumar Reddy’s government that presented the bill in the assembly.
So, pro Telangana supporters argue that once the bill reaches the assembly and the members receive copies of the proposed bill, then it is equivalent to it going to the Lok Sabha.
Though Sridhar Babu has made the controversial statement that the discussion on T bill was already underway, many are awaiting the Speaker’s announcement on January 3, when the assembly resumes.
In this background, it is highly unlikely that Kiran Kumar Reddy can get his way. In fact, there is a possibility of assembly being disrupted based on this issue. The Telangana ministers are likely to create a ruckus in the assembly.
Will it be possible to pass a resolution on Samaikyandhra by suspending these leaders? Or will they get Speaker Nadendla to announce that a resolution on Samaikyandhra has been passed? The pro Telangana supporters, however, are making allegations that Kiran Kumar Reddy is making efforts to this affect to enhance his pro-Samaikyandhra stance. However, it is highly unlikely for Manohar to be part of such a move.
The YSRCP has been demanding for the Samaikyandhra resolution to be passed for a long time. They have been trying to stall the assembly to this end. But no action has been taken against them till now. So, how will they suspend those who are anti-Samaikyandhra cause? If they do so, it is bound to lead to other complications.
If CM Kiran Kumar Reddy decides to go ahead and fight for the issue, then he might instigate some action. On the other hand, there are others who feel that it is not appropriate to fight the T Bill after it has been passed through the President. But the pro-Samaikyandhra supporters are insisting that there is nothing wrong in fighting for their rights and expressing their views in a democratic way.
If Kiran Kumar Reddy goes ahead and proposes a pro-Samaikyandhra resolution, then it will be his final blow against the Congress.
