After facing defeat repeatedly, YSRCP leader and yesteryears film actress Roja has won as the MLA from Chittoor district’s Nagari constituency during the 2014 elections.
Though she tried many times earlier, her dream of becoming an MLA became a reality only after she joined YSRCP. Now, she says she will continue with YSRCP though the party is now in opposition. She has clarified that she will not return to TDP seeking party posts.
However, there are strong rumours that Roja was constantly in touch with TDP leaders even before the elections.
It is said that she was and is in touch with Balakrishna all along. It is a known fact that her work as the TDP women’s wing leader has been commendable. At that time, she took on the then chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and led a campaign for the abolition of belt shops.
Though Roja claims she will be with YSRCP all her life, in the past she had said that she would not leave TDP even after her death.
In politics, people change parties within no time. We will have to wait and watch which direction Roja’s political career takes in future.
