With the Telangana State Election Commission giving recognition to Jana Sena Party founded by power star Pawan Kalyan, curious questions are doing rounds as to whether he would field candidates for the forthcoming elections to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
"The Telangana State Election Commission hereby registers the Janasena Party as a political party without a reserved symbol. The registration shall not entitle the party for reservation of any exclusive symbol for it. However, the candidates duly set up by this party in local body elections (held on party basis) will be entitled to preferential treatment over independent candidates in allotment of free symbols," the Commission said in its order.
The actor had applied to the Election Commission last year seeking recognition to Jana Sena as a political outfit.
What is more interesting is that Jana Sena got the recognition in Telangana State and not in Andhra Pradesh, where it is stronger.
Now that Telangana SEC gave the recognition, it is now eligible to contest the local body elections. Sources said Jana Sena might contest in the forthcoming GHMC elections.
It may be mentioned here that some time ago, the actor had said his political party would contest the municipal elections in twin cities.
Jana Sena got recognition as a political outfit at a time when the ruling TRS was luring many leaders from other parties for the GHMC elections. The TRS was trying to attract political leaders to get Mayor post.
