After ruining the career and image of the megastar of Telugu cinema Chiranjeevi, it may now be the turn of his actor-brother Pavan Kalyan to get into the trap being laid by the sycophants, power-brokers and politicians.
Of late, the state political circles are abuzz with reports, most of them planted by the pro-Telugu Desam Party media groups, suggesting that the "Power Star" may take the political plunge and that he might chose TDP for his political avatar.
The fans and genuine well-wishers of Chiranjeevi are a disappointed lot these days. They are unhappy over the Chiranjeevi handled his political career and his decision to merge his Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) with the ruling Congress has not gone down well with his fans.
There is a general feeling that he has compromised on his principles for the sake of positions of power. A similar fate may be awaiting Pavan Kalyan if joins politics and that the TDP.
The political situation is fluid these days following the UPA government's decision to bifcurcate Andhra Pradesh to carve out separate Telangana state.
The State Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, considered a close confidant of Chiranjeevi, on Tuesday created ripples in political circles when remarked that Pavan Kalyan has now replaced his elder brother as far as popularity and following is concerned. By this, he indicated that Pavan Kalyan could enter politics using his mass appeal.
"However, I am not aware of Pawan’s views on joining politics,” the Minister told the reporters in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, two senior TDP leaders and former Ministers-- Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and S Chandramohan Reddy-- made friendly overtures to Pavan and said the party would welcome him with open hands if he chooses to join it.
For some time now, the reports of widening gulf between Chiranjeevi and Pavan Kalyan have been doing rounds in film circles.
It remains to be seen whether Power Star ditch his brother and join the opposition party at a time when Chiranjeevi's personal image is at its lowest ebb.
