The unending suspense over the seat sharing among alliance partners of Maha Kootami in Telangana is causing a lot of tension in their party workers, even as the elections are just 35 days away.
The announcement made by Telangana Congress leaders in Delhi that the party would contest in 95 out of 119 assembly seats, leaving the remaining 24 seats to the allies has further added to the confusion.
Telangana PCC chief announced that the TDP will contest in 14 seats and the two other parties – the Telangana Jana Samithi and CPI will have to adjust in the remaining 10 seats.
TJS president Prof M Kodandaram left for New Delhi on Thursday and will have a meeting with Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday.
A party spokesman said there was no truth in the reports coming from the Congress camp that the division of seats among the partners of Maha Kootami was over.
“Our leader is in Delhi and he would give clarity after his return to Hyderabad,” he said.
On the other hand, there were reports that CPI will walk out of the alliance, if it is given two or three seats. But Congress leaders say they are trying to convince the CPI to stay back in the Kootami.
“Both the parties are doing last minute bargaining for some more seats. The TJS wants at least 10-12 seats, while the CPI is demanding another two seats,” a Congress leader said.
“In all probability, the seat sharing will be completed by Friday or at the most on Saturday,” a TJS leader said.
