There is a strange sentiment attached to Gajwel assembly constituency in Siddipet district.
The constituency, which was originally in Medak district, has witnessed election of several MLAs in the past, including B Sanjeeva Rao, J Geetha Reddy, G Vijaya Rama Rao and T Narsa Reddy in the last several years.
However, no leader got elected twice for two consecutive terms. Though B Sanjeeva Rao and Geetha Reddy got elected twice, they did not represent the constituency for two consecutive terms.
In 2014, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao got elected by defeating sitting Congress MLA T Narsa Reddy and then TDP strongman Vanteru Pratap Reddy.
If the people of Gajwel follow the sentiment, KCR should not get elected again from this constituency, despite all the good work he had done for them. He is facing a tough battle in the constituency from Vanteru this time.
But, KCR is confident that he would get elected again, with the blessings of Lord Venkateshwara of Konaipalli village of Nagunuru mandal, which has become his sentiment.
Whenever he prayed the Lord before filing the nominations, he had won the elections, whether it was from Siddipet or Medak or Mahbubnagar.
On Wednesday, too, KCR offered special prayers at Konaipalli temple and signed the nomination papers in the presence of the Lord Venkateshwara.
He declared that he was going to battle field with the blessings of the Konaipally god and expressed hope that not only he, but also 99 other TRS candidates would win the elections.
He promised to wash the feet of Sri Venkateshwara Swamy varu with water from Kaleshwaram project in another one year.
It remains to be seen whether KCR would be able to break the Gajwel jinx with his sentiment towards Konaipalli Venkateshwara Swamy.
