Finally, there is some respite for farmers who have been anxiously waiting for some solace in the waiver of loans issue.
It is being widely believed that the Reserve Bank of India will issue a notification for rescheduling of farm loans in Andhra Pradesh today.
The inside story is that the RBI Governor would sign on the file once he returns from his trip abroad.
Once the RBI gives some clarity regarding loan rescheduling, Kotaiah Committee will recommend as to how the loans from last year can be waived.
For one, loans given based on pass books will be considered by the Committee.
Also, it will suggest options as to how the government can repay all loans ranging between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh.
Since the rescheduling will give some time to the government, they can mull over repayment during this time. The same principle will also be applied to Telangana.
