Starting May 28 this year, the birth centenary of legendary actor, Telugu Desam Party founder and former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao will begin and needless to say, it is going to be a big event for his fans and followers across the Telugu states.
According to TDP sources, party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is said to be working out the plans to celebrate the birth centenary of NTR on a grand scale.
Since the TDP’s Mahanadu, the party’s biennial conclave, coincides with NTR’s birthday every year, Naidu is said to be planning to hold it on a grand scale from May 27 to 29 at Telugu Vijayam, the ashram of NTR at Gandipet on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
While focussing on strengthening the party at all levels by the time Mahanadu is held and activating the party leaders and cadre who have gone into some kind of inertia all these days, the TDP chief is also said to be planning to bring the entire Nandamuri family on the same platform on May 28 to commence the year-long celebrations of NTR’s birth anniversary.
It is learnt he has already contacted all the family members of NTR and taken their consent, suggestions and support for the same.
Even NTR’s eldest daughter Daggubati Purandeshwari, who is presently the national vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Party might attend the function along with her husband Daggubati Venkateshwara Rao.
It would be interesting to know whether Naidu would also invite Junior NTR, son of late Nandamuri Harikrishna, to the celebrations and even if he does, whether he would attend the event.
Sources said there is every possibility that Jr NTR would be part of the NTR birth centenary celebrations, as he has a huge popularity among the people and NTR fans.
There is also a talk that Naidu might also invite him to the TDP Mahanadu, which is going to pay special tribute to the party founder on that day.
“If Jr NTR attends Mahanadu, it will be a turning point for the TDP, which is desperately looking for a glamorous face to get back its glory in the next elections. And that will set the tone for the party’s agenda,” sources said.
