A new idea is floating around in political circles on the issue of bifurcation.
The Congress high command is believed to be considering a proposal to develop new capital city for Telangana region while leaving Hyderabad under the central government control.
The Seemandhra region will also get a new capital city. Hyderabad will be developed as a metropolitan city under the direct control of the Centre.
This idea is floating around the Delhi circles. However, there is no confirmation for this.
Since Hyderabad is the major sticking point in the ongoing slugfest between the Telangana protagonists and the integrationists, there is a proposal to delink the mega city from the dispute and develop it independently as a centrally-administered metropolis.
However, such a proposal is sure to meet with stiff resistance from the Telangana protagonists as they will not accept anything short of Telangana state with Hyderabad as the capital.
According to the July 30 resolution of the Congress Working Committee, Hyderabad will be common capital for a period of ten years after which it will be the permanent capital of Telangana while the remainder of Andhra Pradesh will get a new capital city.
It remains to be seen whether there will be any changes made to the original idea, The clarity on the issue will come only when the draft Telangana bill is prepared by the Union Home Ministry, the sources said.
