Medak in Telangana district is all set to have its by-election. The Congress party had announced that it will contest the polls independently despite its dismal performance in the recently concluded general elections.
Though Digvijay Singh had suggested that their party must leave the seat to TRS in a friendly gesture, after realizing the enthusiasm of the local candidates, it was decided that Congress will fight it out alone. Meanwhile, TDP decided to leave the seat to BJP and take a back seat in Medak.
On the other hand, TRS is hell bent on winning the Medak constituency. So, the battle has become prestigious for BJP, Congress and TRS.
It is also being said that during Amit Shah’s meeting with Pawan Kalyan, they discussed a strategy for Medak. In fact, Shah had also requested Pawan to campaign for the by-election to be held soon.
Incidentally, Congress is planning to rope in his elder brother Chiranjeevi to campaign for them. However, it is being said that the T Congress leaders are averse to the idea as they feel Chiranjeevi’s presence would be detrimental to the party. But TRS is happy that if Chiranjeevi campaigns for Congress and Pawan campaigns for BJP, their chances of winning the seat would increase as the constituency is part of Telangana.
Another twist to this story is that the mega brothers have come to a ‘combined understanding’ to campaign for the Medak constituency.
