A popular television news channel which claims to be fighting for “heralding a better society” has sought to humiliate the entire womenfolk for posing a sexist question to YSR Congress party MLA R K Roja, who has been fighting a lone battle against the Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh for getting her suspended from the Assembly for a period of one year.
The channel reporter, who has been imitating his big boss in appearance as well as gestures, interviewed Roja on the recent controversies surrounding her.
While trying to corner her with regard to her alleged indecent behavior in the Assembly that led to her suspension, the reporter stumped Roja by asking her whether she acted in a blue film before entering the film industry. Obviously, she was aghast with that question.
The entire interview is yet to be telecast, but the channel sought to use this question in its promo, obviously to get more viewership for the actual interview.
However, it had done enough damage, as the promo went viral on social networking sites and WhatsUp, invoking criticism from various sections of people. The channel immediately withdrew the promo.
There was nothing wrong in posing controversial questions to such controversial person in the Assembly. In fact, even Andhra Jyothy chairman Radha Krishna interviewed her in the ABN Andhra Jyothy channel and posed irritating questions, but he did not cross any limits. But, this one in the popular channel was the most indecent one.
Will the channel management apologise to Roja?
